Original 1970s Omega ad for the Omega Dynamic, Women's Variants
Dimensions: 8 inches wide by 11 inches high
The elliptical-shaped Omega Dynamic was created in 1965 for the Prix de Ville de Geneve, but was officially launched in 1968. Designed to fit the form and flow of the wrist, it includes a mostly integrated crown.
During the production run of the first generation of Dynamic automatics, Omega imbued it with upwards of over 20 different dial combinations. The case and dial angle up, and in the words of an Omega advertisement of the day, “for time-reading convenience, off-centered for the pleasure of owning a watch unlike any other.”
Much like the quite unique Omega Chronostop, the Dynamic was designed to attract new young customers seeking a quality alternative to the junk watches of the time, and the first two generations in particular more than achieved this goal.
Between 1968 and 1972, Omega sold more than a million Dynamic’s, speaking to its popular design. Omega would go on to re-release the Dynamic line in 1984, with a third and final generation released in 1997.
